Thousands of cinema-goers exist all over the world, but how many of them know the movies history? It is known that long before movies there was theater which included dancing and various plays. This form of entertainment was the foundation of today’s movies. Sometime in the 18th century, movies started to rise. But at first, they were just a new form of interpreting different writings and in time it got to be the most appreciated form of entertainment. Sometime after the year 500 there was invented some kind of “camera obscura” which had the property of projecting moving images onto a plan surface. At first, black and white silent movies appeared. Although they were silent, in some of them there was background music and even sound effects, or you could hear a narrator.
The first movie that contained both image and sound was The Jazz Singer, which was released in 1927. At first, movies were presented as an innovation and people were amazed from them, but after that, everybody started to run movies in different public places, and great profits were made. Hand colored movies started to appear next and they were twice as expensive.
In 1898 the real film was invented, when images weren’t interrupted anymore, so everything had some kind of continuity. Not long after that, people noticed that it’s much better if they make successive shots of the action and play them. In time, the duration of the movies increased dramatically, from a few seconds to lots of minutes. Cinemas started to be built everywhere and different movie programs were presented and changed twice a week or more.
The history of movies is much longer than this, but there were so many changes and innovative ideas during the last decades, that it is hard to describe. Finally, movies got to what they are today and people world wide truly appreciate this industry.
